About
The future of education is dependent on alternative schools. Underfunded and overcrowded public schools combined with escalating dropout rates have created the need for educational alternatives. These alternatives include charter schools, alternative schools, magnet schools, and independent schools. These new schools focus on the value of smaller class sizes, close relationships between students, parents, and teachers, and a strong sense of community.
Alternative Education Foundation (AEF) operates a variety of schools, camps, tutoring services, and parent support groups for children and families whose needs are not being met by traditional public schools or mainstream services.
- What is alternative education?
Alternative education includes a number of approaches to teaching and learning which are not offered in traditional public or private schools. Alternative education fosters academic, cognitive, social, and emotional growth and development.
- What are the benefits of alternative education?
Education is not one size fits all. No two children learn in an identical manner and therefore there is not a single best model of teaching, curriculum, or pedagogy. The best educational environment is one which enhances individual strengths and addresses the weaknesses of every student. Placing your child in the right school provides the greatest opportunity for their growth, confidence, and success.
Academic education is only part of what leads to long term student success. Transitioning from school to university, college, vocational schools, or the job market requires more than academic skills and standardized test scores. Today’s world demands appropriate social, organizational, friendship, attention, regulatory, and technological skills to be successful.
Schools focusing on standardized testing and overloading their students with homework are not doing their job. Schools need to function as a social anchor, take a well rounded holistic approach to education, and pay attention to all the needs of the students; not just their academics.
Since 1980, the academic, social skill, life skill, and cognitive skill programs at AEF have been perfected and are continually updated. Teaching a child to function in a world of traditional values mixed with a digital global economy cannot be accomplished through mainstream curriculum. Alternative methods, innovative curriculum, and an unparalleled commitment to excellence and success set AEF schools apart. Our students will be the architects of the future; not its victims.
AEF has developed individual programs and separate schools for different student populations.
